After its debut in 2003, the book has been popular among English-speaking readers. But after two decades, several things and events now have changed dramatically. New infrastructures and modern machinery cropped up to replace the outdated ones to make life easier at the cause of natural devastation and climate change. As a kid, I lived comfortably without an electric fan or air-conditioner as a cool breeze kept coming intermittently. So, to keep the book up to date, I decided to revise and expand it to accommodate more events that might be useful to readers of all genres. For several years, I have nurtured the idea of writing a book like this to reveal the social and cultural events that I have experienced since my childhood so that Thai and foreign readers will be able to visualize what Thailand really looked like over six decades ago. The book is not my autobiography. I have just used my own life experiences as a plot to narrate the social and cultural events taking place in the Thai kingdom. I realized that a story of my life would probably add more color to real situations, so the contents proceed alongside the development of my life. Actually, the story does not center on my life alone. On the contrary, it covers a wide range of social and cultural events that take place all over the kingdom. Though the story originates in the central region of the country, I am very much convinced that the essence of the events remains the same.
