Lieutenant Tul noticed irregularities in a series of prostitute murders in 1998, when the final unfortunate victim was revealed to be the mother of Dr. Cherran. Tul's father, the lead investigator then, had overseen the case. This led to widespread public suspicion and criticism, with many questioning whether his father had wrongfully arrested an innocent man.
The cold case investigation was conducted in secrecy, as evidence and leads had faded over time, making it nearly impossible to piece everything together. Then, after the original suspect, who had been imprisoned for more than twenty years, passed away, a shocking murder occurred on a stormy night. The victim was killed in a manner strikingly similar to the murders from 18 years ago.
The killer bludgeoned the victim's head, leaving behind a subtle trace on the body, as if daring the authorities to catch them.
Could this be a copycat crime? Or had the elusive Rainy Night Killer been hiding in plain sight, waiting for the right moment to strike again?
