When companionship has a price, can love ever be free?
Rye is thirty-nine, Filipino, and living alone in Bangkok. A Social Studies teacher by profession, he has learned to keep his world orderly and his emotions carefully guarded. Six months after a painful breakup, he is still struggling with the loneliness left behind by the man he once believed would stay.
Then he discovers Chokun.
Eighteen, charming, and a second-year university student, Chokun offers a very particular service: companionship for a price. To him, every booking has its terms and conditions. Every smile is part of the arrangement. And every client is supposed to remain just that, a client.
Their first meeting is meant to be simple. A café, a movie, a meal, and a few hours of company. Nothing more.
But somewhere between shared dinners, late-night conversations, unexpected acts of kindness, and moments that linger long after their scheduled time together, the boundaries between business and affection begin to blur.
For Rye, Chokun becomes someone he wants beside him, not someone he has to book by the hour. For Chokun, Rye becomes the one person who challenges the carefully constructed wall between his professional persona and his private heart.
There is only one problem: Chokun already has a girlfriend.
As their connection deepens, Rye must confront a painful question: Is he becoming someone Chokun genuinely loves, or merely another person who wants to believe he is special?
And Chokun must decide whether he can continue keeping his feelings neatly separated from the life he has built, or whether some things are worth risking everything for.
In a city where time can be booked, attention can be purchased, and even affection can come with terms and conditions, Rye and Chokun are about to discover that the heart does not always follow the rules.
Because companionship may have a rate. But love was never supposed to.
